7, 8 or 10 days

Route choice

7, 8 or 10 days

Seven days is tight with 500–600 km driving days; eight is the classic; ten absorbs the long drives and adds free days in Xining and Dunhuang. Almost nobody regrets adding two days.

Quick answers

Guide FAQ

Ask a question →
What is the best time to visit Qinghai and Gansu?
July is the single best month — Menyuan's rapeseed is solid gold and Qinghai Lake is at its bluest. Late June and September give most of the scenery with fewer crowds.
How many days do I need for the Grand Loop?
Eight days is the classic; ten is what we usually recommend for families because it absorbs the long driving days. Twelve days adds Golmud and a slow stay in Xining.
What does a Qinghai trip cost from Malaysia?
Tour RM 1,500–2,800 per person, return flights RM 1,800–3,200, food RM 40–80 a day. A comfortable 8-day private trip usually lands around RM 4,000–6,000 all-in.
Is Qinghai suitable for children and elderly parents?
Yes with the right pacing. We keep the first day short, cap long driving days, carry oxygen for everyone, and recommend the 10-day version for families.
Is halal food easy to find?
Yes. Qinghai has one of China's largest Hui Muslim populations. There is no JAKIM-style certification in mainland China, so we work from the 清真 signboard system and verify kitchens on your route.
Do I need a visa?
No — Malaysian passport holders currently enjoy visa-free short stays in China. We verify the official notice for your exact dates and send a printed copy to carry.
